MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
WHEN COMPARING DVR's
1. HARD DRIVE. The Hard Drive is where all the data in your computer is stored. When the drive is full, the system will begin to overwrite, or start recording over previous data. The more hard drive, the more time you have before system overwrites. Factors that determine how much hard drive you need include: a. # of cameras b. amount of activity / length of time business is open c. how frequently you will be able to review recorded data. 120 Gigs may give you 3 days to a week, 500 Gigs may give you 2 or more weeks. This is something we help you evaluate
WEBCO SYSTEMS OFFER a minimum of 250 gigs
2. FRAMES PER SECOND. A critical factor to clear imaging. All DVR's operate on a "quad" or 4 channels, and go in increments of 4, 8, 16,32. FPS is always referred to by quad, not by individual channel. A 4 channel system with a total of 30FPS means each camera has only 7.5FPS. 120FPS means 30 FPS for each of 4 cameras. FPS must be divided among the total number of cameras in the system.
The human eye sees at about 15FPS. Cameras set at 15 or higher give you what is called "live streaming video". Casinos use 30 FPS at tables to catch slight of hand. We like to put 30FPS over cash registers. The jerky motion you've seen in some video is a result of low FPS, commonly around 5. At 5 FPS, someone could take a swing at you and it's possible for the camera to completely miss it. In some locations 5FPS might work fine, like monitoring a long hallway. But you need enough frames to adjust each camera to its most effective setting. Less than 120 FPS in a system is generally not enough.
WEBCO SYSTEMS ALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 120FPS.
3. MULTI TASKING. (Tri-Plex system) Some systems will stop recording when you access them to search for data or perform some other function. That is not good. The cameras must always be doing their job, even when you are searching, recording or downloading.
ALL WEBCO SYSTEMS ALLOW YOU TO MONITOR, RECORD, PLAYBACK, ETC. AND THE CAMERAS WILL CONTINUE TO DO THEIR
4. SIMULTANEOUS CAMERA FUNCTION. This means that every camera on the system will monitor and record constantly. Many systems have a rapid rotation between cameras. You've seen monitors where the camera images keep changing and rotating. What that really means is that any one camera is only capturing 1/4 of what is going on…1 frame in 4. 25% capture is not good enough.
WITH WEBCO DVR SYSTEMS, ALL CAMERAS ARE WORKING ALL OF THE TIME.
6. KNOW WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. A. We never fail to be surprised by the "Oh, that is extra!" B. Is your system being professionally installed by someone completely familiar with the product? Who will do the programming, adjust the camera settings and make sure each camera has the correct lenses for its location.
Sure, you can ostensibly get inexpensive surveillance equipment. And they will come in a box with a manual, and you may have a box of problems. C. What kind of warranty are you being offered?
ALL WEBCO SYSTEMS ARE INSTALLED AND PROGRAMMED BY TECNICHIANS THAT ARE EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPANY, NOT CONTRACT WORKERS. THEY ARE TOTALLY FAMILIAR WITH THE SYSTEMS. THE COST OF INSTALLATION, PROGRAMMING
INSTRUCTION ON USE, ANY CAMERA ADJUSTMENTS, ETC., ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE QUOTED. NO SURPRISES. ONCE INSTALLED, ALL YOU SHOULD HAVE TO DO IS TURN IT ON AND CLICK THE MOUSE. OUR WARRANTY IS THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY, WHICH SPEAKS TO OUR CONFIDENCE IN OUR SYSTEMS.
IF YOU ARE OFFERED A GREAT DEAL ON AN ANALOG - VCR SYSTEM, OR ON BLACK AND WHITE CAMERAS….NO MATTER HOW LITTLE YOU PAY, YOU HAVE THROWN AWAY YOUR MONEY. ANALOG IS OBSOLETE, AND INEFFECTIVE. BLACK AND WHITE CAMERAS ARE GENERALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE BY CURRENT STANDARDS.
YOU THE BUSINESS OWNER ARE RESPONSIBLE….
For the bottom line….the success or failure of your business.
A recent study of businesses that failed, many within the first two years, found one consistent key factor to that failure…"SHRINKAGE". There was no plan initially made to address this problem in a meaningful way.
On average, the annual loss to a small business is about 2%. (conservatively). On a volume of half a million, that's $10,000.00 right off the top!
Where do the losses come from? 44% of all business losses are due to employee theft. 37% are due to shoplifting. The balance include robbery and burglary, vandalism, fraudulent accident or injury claims….poor employee productivity and work ethic.
How do you then protect yourself and your business? You carry business insurance.... You have auto insurance.... and major medical insurance. The results of not having these kinds of coverage can be devastating.
Business losses can also be devastating, but you can get a kind of insurance against those losses too….by investing in technology that will give you measurable results… documented decreases, and in some cases complete elimination of certain types of loss.. to the tune of 50% decrease in the first year.
The technology?......
DIGITAL VIDEO MONITORING AND SURVEILLANCE CAMERA SYSTEMS.
THERE IS NOT A MORE EFFECTIVE BUSINESS TOOL AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. IT WORKS! In most cases the system pays for itself in less than that first year! Now THAT's the kind of insurance that makes sense.
EVERY BUSINESS has losses. No one is immune. Divide your annual losses by 12. Instead of just watching that monthly sum walk out the door, you could be applying it to the purchase of a DVR system. Can't afford it right now? You're already making the payment…why not start spending it on something that will help put that lost money back in your pocket?
AND THERE IS SOMETHING EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MONEY……
Your life…the safely and well being of those who work for you. NO ONE who was ever shot, or brutally assaulted in the course of a robbery thought it would happen to them.
You see it on the news everyday. It is happening to more and more businesses…in epidemic proportions.
You would do anything you could to prevent something horrible like that from happening. The problem is you can't predict it. You have to be prepared for it now.
The greatest increase in violent robbery is due to drug abuse. It costs the average addict between $300.00 and $1000.00 a day to support his habit. The street value of what he steals is ten cents on the dollar. He has to hit a lot of places to come up with the money he needs. Drug addicts are unstable and dangerous.
